P365 - Day 188 - here I write (7/7/2011)

I went out at lunch time with my book, sat in the park and wrote.

I felt uncomfortable, exposed. It wasn’t calm or relaxing.

I had to leave.

P365 - Day 187 - disco fever!

Juniordwarf had been anticipating today for a couple of weeks.

His school had a disco for all the kids after school – littlies at 3.15 and the big kids at 4.15.

For $5 the kids got entry, pizza, a drink and a disco with a DJ – and a glitter ball and a bubble machine.

Juniordwarf was really looking forward to it, and kept telling us all about how he was going to have pizza and a drink. He seemed more excited about the pizza than the actual dance.

I went along to help set up beforehand, which involved cutting up fruit and blowing up balloons.

I’d love to say that Juniordwarf had a wonderful time, danced himself into a frenzy and that I got a lot of cool photos, but that’s not how it went down. He had a good time, he danced a little bit and he was one of the first in line for the pizza when it arrived (and tried to sneak back for a second piece, but was cruelly intercepted by his eagle-eyed mother).

Most of the time he spent following his ‘best friend’ (who has been his best friend for about two weeks) around, and I’m not sure if his friend was trying to get away from Juniordwarf or was just not interested in dancing, but they spent a lot of the time walking through the throng of jumping noisy kids.

The times Juniordwarf actually danced, he looked like he was enjoying himself, and it was great to see him smiling. He particularly loved the bubble machine.

So my picture today is the disco ball shining on the ceiling.

Groovy hey.

P365 - Day 186 - I finished!

So just to prove that I do get some things finished, here is the completed layout from Sunday's sneak peak.

It is a scraplift, so I didn't come up with the design myself, but even so I'm pleased with it.

The paper is part of the Scarlet's Letter collection by Basic Grey, the white flower is by Prima and the title is by 2Crafty painted with Kaisercraft paint. The rest of the flowers and the ribbon are from our local scrapbooking shop.

P365 - Day 185 - winter trees

It's winter. The trees have lost their leaves.

I feel I should write some evocative words about winter and bare trees and overcast days, but after another day of trawling through files for answers I don't think I'm going to find, the words aren't there.

Maybe I need to take more time to go to the park, to sit and look at the trees, notice the colours, and forget about the grey building I spend a lot of my life in.

No pressure, just sit and be for a few moments. If some words come, then great.

If not, it won't matter. One day, when I'm least expecting it, they will.

P365 - Day 184 - closeup #7 - flowers

In keeping with my attempt to finish off some scrapbooking layouts, this weekend I've been working on one that was based on a scraplift challenge posted on Papercraft Additictions some time last year.

It's been sitting around in my 'work in progress album' since then.

Here's part of it. All I have to do now is add a title, which - believe it or not - is all ready to be stuck on.

I just applied one of the Instagram filters to this picture.

P365 - Day 182 - closeup #5 - files

One of the things I'm doing at work is looking through some old files to see if I can find out how and why we got to the position we are now in. There's some interesting stuff in there.
