One of the things ‘they’ say you can do to increase your fitness is to take the stairs at work instead of the lift.
I have several flights of stairs to get to my workplace. I’ve climbed up all of them a few times. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Last week decided to start doing it again. Just three flights to start with. The only trouble is that I’m so used to taking the lift, I kept forgetting to take the stairs.
Today I remembered.
We don't have a lift at work. To get to the locker rooms, toilets, lunch room, we have to climb about thirty stairs. So it's up the stairs to stash my stuff in my locker, down the stairs to get to the shop floor to work, up again if I need a "wee" break, down again back to work, up again for a tea break if I'm having one, (usually not, short shifts)down again, up again to clock off and get my locker stash, down again to go home....if I'm sent upstairs for any other reason, there's another up and down......gosh, no wonder my feet and knees hurt!
