A good thing about letting lettuces go to seed is that a bit later on you get new lettuces.
In the bricks that are holding up the garden beds.
And sometimes, exactly where you want them.
Right next to a self-sown spring onion. Who needs to buy seeds?
I have NEVER successfully grown lettuce. They either sit sulking and not growing, or bolt to seed. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI think that they don't grow well in hot weather, when they do bolt to seed. I haven't had much success either. This year was the best I've ever managed. All the gardening books say it's easy to grow, but I disagree. It's a temperamental vegetable.
